Returnee flow continues as 435 families enter Afghanistan in single day

KABUL (Pajhwok): Around 535 returnee families entered Afghanistan through four crossing points, the Commission for Addressing Refugees’ Problems said on Monday.

Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, shared the commission’s daily report on his X account.

According to the report, 464 families, comprising 2,438 individuals, returned through the Torkham crossing.

The commission said 414 families, totalling 2,322 individuals, were transported to the provinces of Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Kabul, with more than 1.829 million afghanis provided for transportation costs.

It added that 4.12 million afghanis in cash assistance was distributed to 503 families at Torkham. Health and telecommunications services were also provided at the Omari Camp.

Meanwhile, 44 families, comprising 268 individuals, returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province.

Officials said 30 of these families, comprising 173 individuals, were transported to Kabul and received 586,000 afghanis for travel expenses.

At Spin Boldak, 560,000 afghanis in assistance was distributed to 67 families, while food, health and telecommunications services were also provided.

According to the report, 42 families, comprising 186 individuals, returned through the Silk Bridge crossing in Nimroz province. In addition, 861 individual travellers also returned via the same crossing.

Cash assistance totalling 38,000 afghanis was provided to four families, while 522 individuals received healthcare services.

At the Islam Qala crossing in Herat province, 21 families, comprising 55 individuals, returned to the country and a total of 118,000 afghanis was distributed among them.

The report further stated that the Transfer and Transportation Committee moved 94 families, comprising 576 individuals, from Kabul to various provinces and paid them more than 336,000 afghanis in transportation costs.

Overall, 535 families, comprising 2,947 individuals, returned to the country. A total of 538 families, totalling 3,071 individuals, were transferred to different provinces, while assistance was provided to 595 families.
