KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Commerce and Industry has met with exporters shipping Afghan goods to member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), saying the ministry is working to establish export processing centers in Kabul and across the country’s regional zones.
According to a post on the ministry’s X account, Minister Nooruddin Azizi met with exporters sending Afghan products to EAEU member countries.
The ministry said the exporters thanked it for its efforts to facilitate exports and briefed the minister on the types of Afghan goods exported to Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, as well as the current export process.
After hearing the exporters’ views, Azizi said the ministry was making serious efforts to establish export processing centers in Kabul and the country’s regional zones.
He said the completion of these centers would provide traders with improved facilities and help streamline the export of Afghan products.
The minister also instructed ministry officials to maintain regular communication with exporters and address their concerns as quickly as possible.
The ministry added that the Eurasian Economic Union—comprising Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan—has granted preferential tariffs on Afghan exports to facilitate trade and reduce customs barriers.
