KABUL): Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari met with his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai soon after arriving in Kabul on Tuesday.
The two leaders met at the Presidential Palace, President Karzai’s spokesman Ahmad Zia Siamak Herawi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Although Siamak provided no more information, Pakistani officials say Zardari will extend condolences to the Afghan leader on the death of his brother Ahmad Wali Karzai, who was killed last week in Kandahar by his guard.
The presidents will discuss economic, commercial and political issues in addition to the overall situation in the region, the Foreign Office in Islamabad said.
The Pakistani embassy in Kabul said Zardari was accompanied by Pakistani Defence Minister Ahmad Mukhtar, Interior Minister Rahman Malik and other officials.
Last month, Afghan President Hamid Karzai headed a delegation to Pakistan.
