HERAT CITY (PAN): A newly-constructed terminal was inaugurated at the Herat International Airport on Monday, officials said.
The terminal, a joint venture of the Italian Provincial Reconstruction) and the United States, will help ensure proper services for passengers.
The governor’s spokesman, Mohiuddin Anwari, told Pajhwok Afghan News the terminal, costing two million dollars, was equipped with security cameras and had the capacity for 400 passengers.
Civil aviation officer, Mohammad Azam Azami, said entrance and exit for passengers and the terminal previously lacked proper equipment.
He hoped the new system would help detect fake travel documents. Built in 1958 with financial support from the US, the airport has a three-kilometer runway.
