KABUL (HIA) fighters and an operation by security personnel in the central province of Maidan Wardak, officials said on Wednesday.
Four Taliban insurgents and two HIA fighters were killed in infighting on Tuesday night in the Nirkh district, a statement from the governor’s office said.
At the same time, 13 Taliban were killed, four wounded and 10 others detained, but HIA militants managed to flee the scene before a security operation.
Afghan Special Forces launched conducted operation that led to the seizure of weapons and ammunitions, the statement added.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the fighters had killed several security personnel in attacks on their bases in the Sultankhel area of Syedabad, Ibrahimkhel, Zamankhel and Ghondakhel areas on the outskirts of Maidan Shahar.
