KABUL): Pakistani politician and religious leader Maulana Fazlur Rahman on Sunday said he was ready to sincerely cooperate with the Afghan government in advancing the stalled peace process.
Chief of his own faction, Jamiat-i-Ulema (JUI-F), Fazlur Rahman, who arrived in Kabul late on Thursday, met President Hamid Karzai on Sunday for a second time, the President’s Spokesman Office said in a statement.
Both leaders called sincere cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistan in the war against terrorism the only way to steer them out of the turmoil.
Issues including the international fight against terrorism and the situation in the region and others came under discussion at the meeting, the statement said.
It said President Karzai urged Fazlur Rahman to play his role in arranging peace talks between the Afghanistan High Peace Council and advancing the Afghan national reconciliation plan.
In response, the JUI leader said he would work with sincerity to help make the Afghan peace process a success by cooperating with the HPC.
