HERAT CITY (PAN): Five militants were killed during a clash with border police in northwestern Badghis province, while 350 kilograms of drugs seized in western Heart province, officials said on Tuesday.
Gen. Mohammad Juma Adil, the western zone border police commander, told reporters the five militants were killed in Bala Murghab district on Monday night.
With no Taliban spokesman immediately available for comment, Adil said one policeman was slightly wounded during the firefight
The commander also said 350 kilograms of drugs were seized after a clash with smugglers in Kahsan district of Herat province.
One smuggler was wounded during the clash, but there had been no arrests, he said, putting at 2,000 kilograms of drugs seized this year in Herat.
