MAIDAN SHAHAR (Pajhwok): Three engineers, who were kidnapped by unknown gunmen, have been rescued by security forces in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Tuesday.
The engineers, working for a private construction company, had been seized on their way to office a week ago in the Salar area of Syedabad district, the governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said security forces conducted a rescue operation in compliance with the governor’s orders in the Langar area of Chak district a day earlier. The individuals were freed, but the abductors managed to flee, he said.
Khogyani added the governor had spoken to the engineers over the telephone and commended security forces for the successful operation.
