Doval, who led a delegation to Kabul, called on President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai at the Presidential Palace here. They discussed matters of mutual and regional interest, including the fight against terrorism.
A brief statement from the Presidential Palace quoted Ahmadzai as calling India Afghanistan’s all-weather friend. He thanked the Indian government for its economic assistance to Afghanistan and equipping the Afghan National Army.
The Indian security advisor also held a separate meeting with his Afghan counterpart Mohammad Hanif Atmar. The two sides conferred on issues facing their countries.
Both the sides agreed to enhance cooperation in defence, economic and higher education fields in line with the strategic partnership agreement between the two countries in 2011.
