KABUL (Pajhwok): Islamabad on Friday announced handing over 29 Afghan nationals, apprehended during an ongoing operation in the tribal region of North Waziristan Agency.
The military described the move as a goodwill gesture toward the Ashraf Ghani administration, saying the men were handed over to Afghan authorities at the Ghulam Khan border crossing.
A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the Afghans had been detained during Operation Zarb-i-Azb from different areas of North Waziristan.
But investigations revealed the individuals did not have links with terrorists, but were illegal immigrants, the statement added.
