KABUL in eastern Nangarhar province as an attack on Allah’s house.
A bomb explosion inside the mosque during Friday prayers in Khogyani district wounded at least 36 worshippers.
He said growing insecurity in the country was a result of the delay in introducing a new cabinet and emphasised the need for urgent formation of the ministers’ council.
Gen. Nazifa Zaki, a Kabul MP, criticized the performance of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) and said the agency should be held accountable.
“NDS says it was informed of the attack. If it was really aware in advance, why didn’t it move to prevent the incident?” she asked, urging the government to introduce nominees for key security ministries.
The speaker instructed the defence affairs commission to investigate the rise of insecurity, including the bomb explosion in the Khogyani mosque.
The Wolesi Jirga has repeatedly asked the government not to delay the formation of the cabinet. Earlier, the lower house warned the government would lose its legitimacy if cabinet members were not announced.
