TALOQAN (Pajhwok): Residents on Wednesday protested against the police chief for the Farkhar district of northern Takhar province, demanding his immediate dismissal.
One of the protestors, Mohammad, a resident of Chasma Garmak area, said the district police chief, Abdul Ali, had links with illegal armed groups involved in insecurity.
He said incidents of violence, kidnapping and robbery increased with each passing day due to the illegal armed groups, who had the police chief’s backing.
Naqibullah, a resident of Farkhar Bazaar, said if the district police chief was not removed, most of the residents would withdraw their support for the government.
But Adul Ali rejected the allegations and said leaders of the protesters had links with criminals and thus seeking his removal.
