Fuel, ghee prices edge down, gold up in Kabul

KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of fuel and ghee dipped while the rate of Arabian gold increased during the outgoing week in the capital Kabul, market sources said on Thursday.

Ghulam Sakhi, a worker of the Shahr-i-Ara fuel station, told Pajhwok Afghan News the price of one litre of petrol edged down from 49 to 46 afghanis and the same amount of diesel from 40 to 39afs.

Mohammad Javid, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta area, sold a kilogram of the commodity for 50afs, the same price as last week’s.

Food Traders’ Union head Fazal Rahman said the price of a 16 litres pack of Momin ghee reduced from 1,000afs to 950afs. But other items’ rates remained unchanged.

A 49-kg bag of Pakistani flour remained unchanged at 1,450afs, the same amount of sugar at 1,980afs and a 24.5kg bag of rice at 1,650afs.

A tea wholesaler, Ashiqullah, sold a kilogram of Madina green tea for 220afs and the same quantity of African black tea for 240afs.

But Ahmad Haroon, a retailer in Dahn-i-Bagh area, sold a 49kg sack of sugar for 2,050afs, 16 litres of Momin ghee for 1,050afs, 50kg of flour for 1,550afs, 24kg of rice for 1,800afs and a kilogram of black tea for 270afs.

Mohammad Sami Raufi, a jeweler in the Faryab Business Centre, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold went up from 2,050afs to 2,100afs.

The same quantity of Russian gold accounted for 1,700afs, same as last week.

A moneychanger in Sarai Shahzada Market, Sadaqat, said the buying rate of one dollar was 68.40afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 638afs.

Last week’s exchange value of the dollar stood at 68.25afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 637afs.
