KABUL (Pajhwok):A notorious commander of the Islamic State (IS) or Daesh and three of his associates have been killed in an airstrike in central Maidan Wardak province, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Monday.
The air raids targeted an IS commander named Mujahid and his bodyguard on the outskirts of the Syedabad district centre late on Sunday, MoD Spokesman Gen. Dawlat Waziri told journalists in Kabul.
Mujahid is the first IS commander killed in Maidan Wardak.
Two more members of the insurgent group were killed in a separate US drone strike in the Deh Bala district of eastern Nangarhar province, a statement from the Special Force Unit said. Daesh has not yet commented on the loss of its fighters.
