Organiser of attack on Kabul protestors killed: NDS

<p><a href="/en/afganistan/kabul" class="glossify-link">KABUL</a>) on Saturday said the organiser of the attack on Enlightenment Movement protestors in Kabul had been killed during a joint operation in eastern Nangarhar province.</p>

<p>A statement from NDS identified Mulavi Abdul Qayyum Aka Shahin Khurasani as planner of the deadly attack on the protest demonstration in the Deh Mazang area of Kabul on July 23, 2016.</p>

<p>Two Daesh commanders -- <a href="/en/maulvi" class="glossify-link">Maulvi</a> Abdul Qayyum and Maulvi Faroqi -- were killed during the operation in the Diwana Baba Bandar area of Achin district. Qayyum led 200 Daesh fighters and organised suicide attacks in Nangarhar.</p>

<p>NDS said that Qayyum was also responsible for plotting a terrorist attack on the Enlightenment Movement in Deh Mazang area. The movement wants the TUTAP power line from Turkmenistan to <a href="/en/afghanistan" class="glossify-link">Afghanistan</a>.</p>

<p>The movement staged several protests in early 2016 to press the government to accept the demand. More than 80 people were killed and 230 wounded in two suicide attacks on protest demonstrations of the movement.</p>
