Afghan, Pak officials to meet on easing tension

KABUL is scheduled to take place next month on easing tension in relations between the neighbors.

Hazrat Omar Zakhilwal, Afghanistan ambassador in Islamabad, told this to Afghan students studying at the Islamic International University in the Pakistani capital.

One of the Afghan students, Khalid Rahman Mutmaen, told Pajhwok Afghan News Zakhilwal addressed the students who attended a conference titled Pakistan -Afghanistan bilateral relations and future predictions” arranged by the university’s international relations faculty.

Mutmaen said hundreds of Afghan students from other Pakistani universities, Zakhiwal and other Afghan Embassy officials attended the gathering. Pakistani students also attended the event.

Zakhilwal told the students that Afghanistan and Pakistan had definitely problems and challenges but both the nations had historic, cultural and religious bonds.

The envoy said a meeting between high level Afghan and Pakistani officials would take place next month on how to put the relations back on track.

He said the border tension between the two countries should not affect trade and people to people contact.

The Afghan ambassador rejected if India used Afghanistan’s soil against Pakistan and said Afghanistan was a sovereign nation and allowed no one to use its soil against another country.
