JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A second mass grave containing at least ten bodies of civilians, allegedly kidnapped by Islamic State (Daesh) militants, has been found in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said Tuesday.
The grave was found on Tuesday in Achin district where another grave holding nine corpses had been found three days back and those deaths were also blamed on Daesh.
Attauallah Khogyani, the Nangarhar governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Daesh militants had kidnapped 60 local residents including some tribal leaders in Pajirawgam district last year and shifted them to Achin district.
The Daesh rebels released 50 of the hostages and killed the remaining 10 whose bodies were found on Tuesday buried under a wall.
The corpses were taken to their home town Pajirawgam district by their relatives and buried them there.
Malik Kamen, a tribal leader, said the slain civilians bodies had been buried under the wall on the outskirts of Momond Dara area in Gardiz Kamar locality of the district.
Yar Mohammad, a resident of upper-Pajir area, said his two brothers and a son were among the dead. He said all the killed were local residents and had no link with the government.
He named his two slain brothers as Gulwar and Qayum and said he identified them from their clothes.
It is a second mass grave to be found within three days. The earlier gave in Momond Dara area of Kot district contained nine bodies.
There has been no word from Daesh about the incidents.
