Huge explosive material cache seized at Torkham

KABUL into eastern Nangarhar province, the spy service said.

The National Directorate of Security (NDS) in a statement said the chemical, used in making bombs by the insurgents, came from Pakistan to “carry out terrorist attacks in Kabul.”

The NDS statement said the potassium chloride weighing 3,500 kilograms was from 150 sacks loaded on the truck at Torkham border crossing.

It alleged the chemical had been skillfully hidden in the sacks in the name of sugar and terrorists intended to use the explosives in terrorist activities by transferring it to Kabul.

One person was arrested in connection with the seizure, the statement said, without giving further details.
