GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): work on a women gymnasium worth 18 million afghanis, has been launched in Ghazni City, the capital of southern Ghazni province, officials said on Saturday.
Governor Waheedullah Kalimzai said this would be the first sport gymnasium for women athletes in province. He was addressing the groundbreaking ceremony for the gymnasium construction.
The facility according to Kalimzai would be built on 1,400 square kilometres area with the financial support of Women Affairs Ministry.
The governor added a huge number of local female athletes would be now able to exercise their sport talent after the gymnasium is completed.
Women Affairs Department Director Shukria Wali said the gymnasium would be constructed in Ali Lala locality inside women garden and be equipped with all the modern facilitates.
Tahmena, a volleyball athlete, told Pajhwok Afghan News due to lack of gymnasium they were unable to show her volleyball skills.
She said they have been once or twice using the men gymnasium in a month in case of emergency but by constructing this gymnasium the issue would be solve.
