Both sides suffer casualties as Taliban, Daesh clash in Kunar

<p>ASADABAD (Pajhwok): Local officials on Saturday said <a href="/en/taliban" class="glossify-link">Taliban</a> and Daesh or so called Islamic State (IS) insurgents engaged in a fight with each other in eastern Kunar province, causing casualties to both sides.</p>

<p>A statement from Silab Military Corps in the east, received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that Taliban and Daesh clashed in Wattapor district of Kunar late on Friday.</p>

<p>The source said four Taliban fighters and as many Daesh insurgents were killed and scores others wounded in the incident.</p>

<p>A child was also killed and a nomad kid wounded in the battle, the statement added.</p>

<p>On the other hand, Silab Military Corps said that nine Daesh insurgents were killed during airstrikes in Khogyani district of Nangarhar and Ghaziabad district of Kunar last night.</p>

<p>However, Kunar police said they were unaware about Taliban and Daesh fight.</p>

<p>Faridullah Dehqan, police spokesmant, said that foreign forces killed a person and arrested six others who allegedly had links with Daesh during an operation in Wattapor district on Friday night.</p>

<p> No any insurgent groups have so far commented on these incidents.</p>
