Taliban allow ICRC to resume work in Afghanistan

KABUL.

In a statement, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said they allowed all welfare organizations specially those offering humanitarian assistance to the war-affected people of Afghanistan without any discrimination.

The Taliban cut off cooperation with the ICRC two months ago, accusing it of paying little attention to their inmates.

The Taliban’s decision to allow the ICRC to resume its work comes after two days of negotiations between the Taliban political team and ICRC officials in Qatar.

During the talks, the ICRC assured full cooperation and pledged to take positive steps regarding Taliban reservations.

Meanwhile, the Taliban asked the humanitarian organization to send its assistance to drought-hit areas of the country.
