HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Local officials said Hajj and Islamic Affairs director of Ghoryan district of western Herat province was killed in an armed attack on Thursday.
Sayed Mohammad Shirzad, Herat Hajj and Islamic Affairs director, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Mulavi Abdullah Nazari, the head of Hajj and Islamic Affairs of Ghoryan district was shot dead when he was heading to his office around 11am today.
He said Nazari told him a week back that insurgents had warned him to leave his duty with the government but he continued his work and was assassinated as result.
Herat Zonal Hospital officials confirmed the death of Ghoryan Hajj and Islamic Affairs director.
Herat police said that they were unaware about the incident.
Taliban did not comment yet on the attack.
