Stability in Afghanistan called ECO’s key objective

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Political stability in Afghanistan said on Friday.

Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar hoped peace in Afghanistan would pave the ground for harnessing the true potential of ECO.

Addressing a seminar in Islamabad, the minister hoped the regional bloc would achieve the objectives as envisioned in its charter.

Facilitation of trade and effective use of the region’s vast energy reservoirs were important priorities of the ECO for regional development and growth, he said.

Khusro suggested that ECO Bank should build partnerships with Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and other multilateral organisations for financing regional infrastructure projects.
