KABUL's permanent representative to the UN has been picked as vice-president of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP).
Adela Raz, who was appointed as Afghanistan's first female permanent representative to the UN in December 2018, was unanimously selected during a meeting of the CEIRPP on Thursday morning.
The UN body tweeted: "Congratulations to HE @AdelaRaz unanimously elected as VP of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People."
Set up in 1975, CEIRPP seeks to create a program to enable Palestinian people to exercise their rights to self-determination and return to the homes and property from which they have been displaced.
The Afghan mission said: "Afghanistan is ready to continue its effective role in the committee, and look forward to a productive year ahead of us.”
