KABUL (Pajhwok): Several presidential wannabes have once again asked President Ashraf Ghani either to quit at the end of his legal tenure or pull out of the electoral battle.
In a joint declaration on Monday, 12 out of the 18 candidates said the term of the incumbent government would expire on May 22.
Unless Ghani withdraws from the election due in September, they said, the only way forward was for a provisional government to conduct the vote.
The Supreme Court has allowed the government to continue until the presidential ballot. However, the candidates insist on an interim government, a demand rejected by Ghani.
