Accord on violence reduction likely today: Qatar delegate

DOHA (Pajhwok): Participants of the ongoing intra-Afghan conference in Qatar are likely to agree on reduction of violence on the second day (Monday) of their talks.

Kicked off yesterday, 60 people, including a 17-member delegation of Taliban, are attending the two-day intra-Afghan dialogue in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

Besides the Taliban, Afghan civil society representatives and prominent political figures from Afghanistan and Europe are participating in the meeting brokered by Qatar and Germany.

A delegate from Kabul, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok Afghan News that possibly they would reach an agreement with Taliban representatives today over reduction of violence in Afghanistan.

The source added the Taliban were opposed to truce which they linked with talks with the US representatives.

Another source said Uzbekistan, Indonesia and Norway were being considered for the next intra-Afghan peace talks, but Indonesia was likely to be the place.

The source said the joint committee worked on a joint declaration until noon and it would be released after sharing with all participants of the conference.

However, he did not share key points of the declaration.
