SAR-I-PUL (Pajhwok): Residents of northern Sar-i-Pul province donated 150 acres of land to education department for construction of schools over the past two years, an official said on Wednesday.
Ahmad Khan Bekzada, the education director, told Pajhwok Afghan News buildings for 95 percent of schools had been constructed across the province with the help of people.
Salahuddin Chirekzada, deputy governor for social affairs, hailed residents’ cooperation on promoting education in the province.
Tribal elders also underlined people’s role in promoting the cause of education and eradicating conflict and insecurity.
The Education Department says 437 schools are functional in the province, where 164,000 students, including girls, are enrolled.
