MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Three uprising group members, including their commander, have been killed and a civilian and an uprising member wounded in a Taliban ambush in northern Faryab province, a public representative said on Thursday.
Mohammad Nadir Sayeedi, a member of provincial council, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the incident took place in Arzalik area of the Qaisar district late on Wednesday.
He said three uprising group members, including their commander were killed and a civilian and an uprising group member were wounded in the nighttime ambush.
Mohammad Tariq, former Qaisar district chief, confirmed the incident to Pajhwok, adding that his son was also injured in the Taliban attack.
Meanwhile, Abdul Karim Yourish, Faryab police spokesman, also confirmed the causalities but did not provide further details in this regard.
A security official, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok that commander Amruddin and Qamar were among the dead.
A Taliban source in Faryab claimed killing three uprising group members in the ambush.
