Afghanistan, Ireland face off in T20 series opener today

KABUL Complex Ground today (Friday).

In their previousT20 series, which was also played India in February, Afghanistan won all the three matches. So both sides will be trying to clinch the series.

Afghanistan’s squad, led by Asghar Afghan, includes Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Hazratullah Zazai, Karim Janat, Najib Zadran, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbadin Naib, Rashid Khan, Naveen ul Haq, Shapoor Zadran, Mujeebur Rahman, Qais Ahmad, AzmatullahOmarzai, Samiullah Shinwari and Usman Ghani

The series is essential for Afghanistan as they want to prepare themselves for the T20 world cup, which is scheduled to be played later in the year.

The second T20 match will be played on March 8 and the last on March 10. All these games are to be played on Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground.

Since January 2018, Afghanistanhave scored five series wins - 2-0 against Zimbabwe, 3-0 against Bangladesh, 2-0 against Ireland, 3-0 against Ireland and 2-1 against West Indies.
