KABUL militants have been killed in airstrikes in northeastern Badakhshan province, the Ministry of Defense said on Saturday.
In a statement, the MoD said the Afghan Air Force carried out the blitz based on intelligence reports to preempt Taliban attacks.
The strikes in Warduj district killed 11 Taliban insurgents and wounded six others and separate airstrikes left 16 Taliban dead and three more wounded in Nusai district.
The main headquarters of Qari Fasihuddin, the shadow governor of Badakshan Province, was completely destroyed in airstrikes, the MoD statement said.
A large amount of ammunition and weapons were also destroyed in the strikes, with civilians escaping unhurt, the statement concluded.
