CHARIKAR gunman shot to death six workers and wounded three others near the Bagram airfield in central Parwan province last night, an official said on Friday.
The attacker on motorcycle opened fire at the workers soon after they emerged from the airfield at about 10pm last night, said Wahida Shahkar, the provincial government spokeswoman.
She said there were 10 workers who came under attack, with only one escaping unhurt. She said the victims were civilians and worked to eke out a living for their families.
She said five of the dead workers and two of the injured belonged to Parwan and one dead person and one injured person hailed from Kapisa province.
Without naming any group, Shahkar said the attack was carried out by the enemies of Afghanistan.
A member of the Parwan Provincial Council, Asmat Mohammadi, said the workers were killed very close to the Bagram airfield.
Parwan deputy police chief Abdul Wasi Rahimi confirmed the attack and the casualties and said the attack took place 500 meters away from the airfield.
