Turkmenistan to set up rapid test centers at Afghan ports

KABUL (Pajhwok): Turkmenistan wants to set up two rapid coronavirus testing facilities and disinfecting lorry and cargo vehicles passing through Torghundi and Andkhoi ports, a statement said Wednesday.

The coronavirus is spreading in Afghanistan, so far infecting 1, 2456 people infected nationwide. So far 227 Afghans have died and 1,138 recovered.

President Ashraf Ghani spoke with his Turkmen counterpart Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov over the telephone about expanding economic and trade ties, a statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul said.

The Turkmen leader said his country wanted to set up two Corona virus rapid testing centers at Torgandi and Andkhoy ports using their own resources and capacity and also to disinfect all lorries and cargoes that pass through these ports.

According to the statement, President Ghani called Turkmenistan's move to prevent the spread of the coronavirus as important and welcomed it. He said the issue would be pursued at the level of foreign ministers of the two countries.
