KABUL prisoners involved in serious crimes will not be released by the government.
Javed Faisal, spokesman for NSC, told Pajhwok Afghan News the 600 Taliban prisoners, involved in cases of murder, robbery, corruption and smuggling would not be freed.
Faisal said: “The process of prisoner releases is underway, but there are some inmates who face serious cases could not be freed.”
The NSC spokesman said that the Taliban should provide the list of their other prisoners to be released instead of those 600.
The 600 prisoners are included on the list of 5,000 inmates which was handed over to the government after the signing of the Feb 29. peace agreement between the US and the Taliban.
Faisal said the government had so far released 4,019 Taliban prisoners.
