KABUL (Pajhwok): The prices of cooking oil, sugar and tea increased while that of rice, flour and gold declined in Kabul market during the outgoing week, sources said on Saturday.
Zmrai Safi, Food Dealers Association head, said the price 16-kg of Spinghar cooking oil price increased from 1,310afs to 1,450afs and one kg of Indonesian green tea from 290afs to 300afs, and the same amount of African black tea from 580afs to 300afs.
He said the prices of these items went up in the exporting countries. He, however, said the price of a 24-kilogram bag of Pakistani rice decreased from 2,300afs to 2,040afs, a 49-kg of Kazakh flour from 18,050afs to 1,650afs.
He said the decline in demand and increase in import of rice and flour led to the decline of their rates.
The regular prices of these items in some cases varied while in some cases there was a small difference.
Mohammad Omaid Hassian at Mandawi market sold 49-kg of Kazakh flour for 1,780afs, 49-kg Pakistani sugar for 2,250afs, 16-kg Spinghar cooking oil for 1,540afs, one kg of Indonesian green tea for 310afs, and the same amount of African black tea for 320afs.
Gold price down this week
Mohammad Javed, a jeweler at Layci-i-Maryam, said one gram of Arabian gold price decreased from 3,700afs to 3,600 afs and the same quantity of the Russian variety from 3,200 to 3,000afs.
He linked the decline in gold prices to international market trends.
No change in fuel prices
Ahmad Javed, a worker at Wazirabad fuel station, said one liter of petrol was sold for 35afs and the same quantity of diesel for 37afs.
Mohammad Sharif, a liquefied gas seller in Kolola Pushta area, said the price of one kilogram of the commodity was 60afs—same as last week’s rate.
Dollar gains value against afghani this week
Haji Hussain Malik, a moneychanger at Sara-i-Shahzad market, told Pajhwok Afghan News one US dollar consumed 77afs while 1,000 Pakistani rupees 467afs compared to last week’s 77afs and 463afs respectively.
