KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) and fuel-importing firms have reviewed fuel and liquefied gas prices and market conditions, with importers assuring that sufficient stocks are available and imports are proceeding normally.
In a statement, the ministry said its Deputy Minister Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid met Deputy Prime Minister Mufti Syed Ahmad Aqa, Deputy Head of the General Directorate of Monitoring and Following-up on Decrees and Orders Mawlawi Shah Mohammad, Deputy Head of Directorate 02 Mawlawi Mohammad Bahadur, Deputy Head of the State Oil and Gas Corporation Mawlawi Asadullah Enam and representatives of companies importing fuel and liquefied gas.
It said the meeting discussed factors behind rising fuel and liquefied gas prices, global prices of these products, challenges faced by traders and importing companies, global and regional market conditions and forecasts for the situation in the coming months.
It added that representatives of fuel and liquefied gas importing companies discussed the issues raised and assured officials of sufficient stocks and the normal flow of imports. They also shared their suggestions and views with the officials.
The statement quoted Mawlawi Ahmadullah Zahid as saying that necessary measures would be taken wherever action was required.
Zahid urged representatives of importing companies to share their problems with the relevant Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) authorities as soon as possible to ensure that citizens do not face difficulties in obtaining fuel and liquefied gas.
