KABUL in Kabul says it has taken urgent measures to facilitate issuing visas to Afghan nationals.
Pakistan's consulates in Jalalabad, Kandahar, Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif have also started offering the Afghans visas in their respective jurisdictions.
“Under the new policy, long-term multiple visas are being issued to the Afghan nationals for visiting Pakistan,” a statement from the embassy said.
Multiple visas are issued to those visiting Pakistan for medical treatment, family matters, business, education and other purposes.
“It is important for Afghan brothers and sisters to know that Pakistani visa is (issued) without any charges,” the statement added.
There were no agents and applicants were not required to pay except for the business category visa fee, the embassy explained.
As the visa facility has opened recently after many month s of restrictions due to COVID-19, there is a significant backlog.
The embassy sought understanding and cooperation from applicants as well as the Afghan security authorities to ensure effective management of submission of applications and collection of visas with a view to clear the backlog.
