KABUL (Pajhwok): Parliamentarian Khan Mohammad Wardak was wounded in a car bombing in Kabul on Sunday morning, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said.
The explosion occurred in the Spin Kalai Square of the 5th police district and was heard in nearby areas.
A statement from the ministry said the explosion damaged nearby houses and injured children, women and the elderly.
It added the enemies of Afghans conducted 37 suicide attacks and 510 explosions during the last three months, killing 500 civilians and wounding 1,050 others.
Noorullah Tarakai, deputy spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), said five dead bodies and eight wounded individuals had been evacuated to hospital so far.
Lawmaker Khan Mohammad is a resident of Maidan Wardak province.
Habibur Rahman Ibrahimi, a member of the Wardak Tribal Council, told Pajhwok Afghan news that Khan Mohammad was in stable condition at the Kabul Emergency Hospital but four of his bodyguards were in a critical situation.
The injured were taken to Kabul Emergency and Amiri hospitals. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
