KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Human Rights Organization says it has launched efforts to seek justice for victims of Pakistan’s attacks and is urging Afghans to register their complaints regarding these attacks with the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) through a dedicated online link.
According to reports, during the past more than two months, rocket and airstrikes carried out by Pakistan’s military regime on various Afghan provinces have killed around 770 civilians and injured nearly 720 others.
The deadliest of these attacks occurred on the night of March 15, targeting a drug treatment center in Kabul’s District 9, where more than 400 people were killed and 250 others wounded.
Lal Gul Lal, head of the Afghanistan Human Rights Organization, told Pajhwok today that they have initiated a justice-seeking campaign aimed at bringing the voices of Afghans to the international community.
He added that Pakistan’s actions violate international humanitarian laws and principles and fall under the categories of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
“We must not remain silent in the face of these brutal attacks. We need to document the suffering of ordinary civilians so that it reaches the international community and legal action can be pursued against this oppressor in international judicial institutions,” he said.
According to Lal, Pakistan had also carried out attacks on Afghanistan during the previous Afghan government, and these attacks have intensified recently.
He said that after Pakistan attacked the drug treatment hospital in Kabul, they called on various international organizations not to remain silent, to condemn the attacks, and to demand that Pakistan respond in accordance with international principles.
Lal stated that afterward, the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court contacted the organization via email and requested that the voices of civilian victims be shared through the dedicated link: https://otplink.icc-cpi.int/
He called on families of victims, witnesses, civil society organizations, relevant individuals, and institutions to register complaints regarding the attacks by Pakistan’s military regime.
According to him, under the principles of the ICC Prosecutor’s Office, any individual, group, or organization has the right to submit and register information regarding such crimes.
He added: “The voices of victims form the foundation for achieving justice. Providing documented information can play a key role in fact-finding, accountability, and strengthening the process of international justice. As a result, justice will be served for war victims, perpetrators will be prosecuted, and compensation will be provided to the victims.”
He said that after the complaints are registered, the court will proceed with further stages before making a final decision.
