PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan is a common goal of Pakistan and the United States, says the interior minister.
Sheikh Rashid Ahmad claimed that his country had rendered immense human and financial sacrifices for durable peace in Afghanistan.
Speaking to acting US Ambassador Angela P Aggeler in Islamabad on Tuesday, he promised Pakistan would support the new US administration’s efforts for stabilising Afghanistan.
The acting US ambassador said Afghanistan also valued Pakistan’s efforts for achieving durable peace in the war-devastated country.
The case of American journalist Daniel Pearl, who was kidnapped and beheaded in Pakistan in 2002, also came up for discussion.
