KABUL (Pajhwok): US Special Representative for Afghanistan Peace Process Zalmy Khalilzad has held meetings with delegations of the Islamic Republic and the Taliban in Doha and discussed matters related to on-going peace process.
It is the first meeting of Khalilzad with both sides after the extension of US troops pull out and the Taliban declination to attend Turkey meeting.
The government negotiating team on its twitter handler wrote: “Both sides discussed recent development pertaining to Afghan peace process.”
“Khalilzad talked about US efforts to accelerate ongoing peace talks and renewed US and its people commitment to Afghanistan,” the government team said.
The Taliban Qatar Office Spokesperson Mohammad Naeem, on his twitter account wrote, US Chief Negotiator Zalmay Khalilzad and his accompanied delegation met Mullah Berather, the Taliban Qatar office head, and discussed current situation of Afghanistan and ongoing peace process.
Khalilzad, however, did not write about his meeting on his twitter handler.
