KABUL (Pajhwok): President Ashraf Ghani condemned a truck bombing that killed two dozen people and injured over a hundred others in central Logar province, saying the Taliban were accountable to God and nation for killing Afghans.

At least 24 people were and 112 more wounded in a massive truck bombing in the capital of Logar province on Friday evening.

A statement from the Presidential Palace received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that the president has condemned the attack and stated, “Taliban do not stop killing our people and destroying our facilities even in the holy month of Ramadan. Taliban are accountable for the nation and Allah for killing Afghans.

Taliban by continuing their illegitimate war and violence proved that they have no will for peace but even try for complicating the situation and wasting the opportunity for peace, he said.

However, Taliban did not claim responsibility for the attack.

President Ghani shared his sympathy with the bereaved families and directed officials concerned to assist the affected people and provide medical facilities to the injured.

High Council of National Reconciliation (HCNR) also in a statement condemned the attack.

HCNR chairman, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said, “Enemies of Islam and our country want to threaten ongoing peace process amid hopes for a political settlement to the Afghan crisis.”

He voiced on the Taliban to declare ceasefire during the holy month of Ramadan and show a good gesture for peace.

Former president, Hamid Karzai also denounced the attack and asked the conflict parties to be careful about foreign conspiracies against Afghanistan and work honestly for reaching a peace agreement ending the ongoing war.
