PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Taliban militants attacked a security post in Mohammad Agha district of central Logar province last night and killed at least 18 security personnel, sources said on Sunday.
A security source, wishing anonymity, told Pajhwok Afghan News Taliban insurgents on Saturday night attacked a security post in Sarkhab area of MohammadAgha district, killing 18 security personnel and taking two others with them.
According to the source, Taliban also took away 20 Kalashnikovs, three RPGs, one machine gun and some other weapons and ammunition from the security post.
A local resident, Niaz Mohammad, told Pajhwok Afghan News there was an intense clash yesterday night between the government security personnel and the Taliban insurgents; the government did not send reinforcement and Taliban killed many policemen and captured the security post.
Logar governor’s house did not comment on the casualties but confirmed that Taliban insurgents had attacked a security post in Surkhab area on Saturday night.

The movement’s spokesman, ZabihullahMujahid said yesterday night the Taliban attacked a security post in Surkhab area of MohammadAgha district, adding many policemen have been killed, and two captured alive and Taliban have taken 25 weapons and ammunition with them.
A few days ago Taliban attacked security post of Miss-i-Ainak mine in MohammadAgha district and caused casualties to the government forces.
