Ex-deputy minister among 6 jailed over corruption

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Supreme Court on Sunday said that the primary court of Anti-Corruption Justice Center (ACJC) has sentenced former urban development minister, Khatira Sadat, and five other officials to different jail terms in a corruption case.

A statement from the Supreme Court received by Pajhwok Afghan News said that Khatira Sadat, former deputy urban minister in administrative and finance affairs, Mohammad Naser, in charge of finance affair of the ministry, Zabihullah, an employee of finance section, Fakhruddin, in charge of finance for general budget, Hafizullah, a member of control management of the ministry and Azimuddin, general control manager of the ministry were accused of embezzlement and forgery of transactions in an open court on Saturday.

The source said that the judicial delegation after reviewing all documents and cases, sentenced Sadat, Mohammad Naser and Zabihullah to four years and eight months in jail each, Fakhruddin and Hafizullah to three years and six months and Azimuddin to one year and two months in jail on charges of embezzlement.

Mohammad Naser, Zabihullah, Khatira Sadat and Hafizullah were also fined 6.29 million in one forgery case and 8.9 million afghanis in another forgery case.

Mohammad Naser and Fakhruddin were also fined millions of afghanis on forging transaction documents.
