EU assures Afghanistan of support in peace process

KABUL (Pajhwok): The European Union (EU) has assured Afghanistan of full support in the peace process, economic and development programmes, a statement from Presidential Palace said on Thursday.

This was stated by EU Special Envoy Thomas Nicholson during a meeting with President Ghani, the statement said.

The president welcomed Nicholson and thanked EU for its support to Afghanistan in different areas.

The EU envoy assured President Ghani of support in peace process and areas of economic cooperation and development.

“We have shared interests, the protection of women rights, human rights and past years achievements remain vital for us.”

The president and the EU envoy also discussed future steps in Afghan peace process.
