KABUL (Pajhwok): An advisor to the president on Monday termed the country’s current situation as violent and stressed the need for a unified view between politicians and the government to help ease the situation.

Wahid Omar, president’s advisor in public and strategic affairs, made the comments in a musical program in support of Afghan security forces in Kabul today.

He called the ongoing security situation in the country as worsening and said, “Unfortunately the war has been imposed on us, the conflict in Afghanistan is getting more violent, uncommon and unlawful with each passing day.”

Omar also talked about national consensus and said that President Ashraf Ghani had met with a number of politicians including former president Hamid Karzai, head of High Council of National Reconciliation (HCNR) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, former Jihadi leader, Abdul RabRassoulSayyaf and some others and discussed national political consensus.

“In the current situation of the country, there is need for unity and solidarity,” he said. “Fortunately, there is a very clear consensus among politicians and the government,” he added.

Omar said that despite the fact foreign forces were leaving Afghanistan, but the Taliban still continued their violence, which he added was unaccepted for the Afghan public.

He called peace priority of the government and said that Afghan security forces were ready for the defense of the country.

“The war in Afghanistan is imposed, we face a serious threat and it is our responsibility to stop it,” he concluded.
