LASHKARGAH (Pajhwok): Two people were injured when a hospital building was partially damaged in an airstrike in Greshk district of southern Helmand province, a well-placed government source said on Sunday.
According to the source, Afghan air force bombarded a civilian hospital in Greshk district on Saturday night. Some parts of the hospital were damaged while three vehicles also destroyed in the incident.
Hospital Director Dr. Mohammad Barak sent a letter to Baran Organization regarding the airstrike on the hospital. A copy of the letter is available with Pajhwok.
The letter reads that hospital mosque, emergency section and three vehicles had been destroyed in the airstrike. Two patients also superficially injured in the attack.
Assistant MoD Spokesperson FawadAman said he would later share information with Pajhwok regarding the airstrike.
Taliban spokesperson QariYousufAhmadi said US forces carried out the airstrikes on Greshk district bazaar five times from a B-52 fighter jet on Saturday.
He claimed 12 people were injured in the strike that targeted motorcycle street, a high school and emergency section of the civil hospital.
