NATO SCR leaves Afghanistan with heavy heart

KBAUL (Pajhwok): NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative (SCR) Stefano Pontecorvo says he has left Afghanistan with a “heavy heart”.

Pontecorvo tweeted: “Leaving Kabul with a heavy hear. My gratitude to all NATO allies and partners for a massive evacuation effort from Afghanistan despite all challenges.”

He wrote NATO played a key role in getting thousands out and remained committed to getting others to safety.

Taliban took over Kabul on August 15 and thousands of Afghans have since been evacuated from the country.
