Taliban free journalist Dawod Tapan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban on Wednesday freed Dawod Tapan, former Azadi Radio journalist and current head of the Tahleel Media Group.

Tapan served in media from the past 14 years, he worked with different national and international media outlets, Tapan also served and Defence Ministry advisor for few months last year and later resigned from this post.

From the past one month he was running a media office Tahleel in Gardez, the capital of south eastern Paktia province, and recently he was planning to launch a radio station too.

The Paktia Information and Cultural Affairs Head Mullah Khaliqyar Ahmadzai said Tapan was taken in custody to provide some information and he was freed on Wednesday evening.

It is worth mentioning that the Taliban have taken into custody another civil society activist Lutfullah Binawa from the past few days.
