KABUL (Pajhwok): Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan at a summit in Moscow said that Afghanistan is ready for any civilized interaction with the world, calling on the international community to recognize the current government and asked the United States to unfreeze Afghanistan’s assets.

The summit was held today in Moscow with the participation of representatives from 11 countries, including Afghanistan, Russia, China, Pakistan and some other countries.

Mulavi Abdul Salam Hanafi, deputy prime minister of Afghanistan, addressing the summit today said that he was pleased to attend the Moscow meeting, as peace and stability had been established to Afghanistan and national sovereignty had been restored.

“I remember the first time we attended the Moscow Format here in November 2018,” he said. At the time, parliamentarians were seriously concerned about insecurity and instability in Afghanistan, he added. “Although a historic change took place on August 15, but it happened without bloodshed and destruction in the country.”

He said that a new Islamic government has been formed in Afghanistan and assured that no security threat would be posed to any country at neighborhood or elsewhere in the world.

“Afghans now have a responsible government, it is committed to securing national interests, and safeguarding their country’s political freedom,” he said.

He noted that their forces entered Kabul based on the request of former government officials and people to save their lives, property and national facilities, while the leader of the previous administration fled the country.

“We obliged to enter the city and the leadership of the Islamic Emirate announced a caretaker cabinet to keep the government function … the leadership of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has tried to ensure the presence of all ethnic groups and sections of Afghan society in the new Islamic government,” he said.

Hanafi added that reforms in the political structure of the country continued and there was a strong intention for the new government to provide standard services to its people.

“We inherited a government that owed money to its neighbors,” he said. He emphasized serious fight against corruption and said that there was rampant corruption in the previous administration which did not pay salaries of its workers for months.

“After more than forty years of war and destruction, the current government was able to guarantee the rule of the system over all parts of the country for the first time,” he said.

Afghanistan now has a political structure with a clear order and a unified command and there are no more islands of powers in the country, he said.

Hanafi said that the new administration had all conditions of a government which included full territory, state, national sovereignty and population. “The Afghan people are very happy with this great achievement, therefore we call on the international community to recognize the new administration of Afghanistan,” he added.

He says that Afghanistan’s isolation was not in the interest of anyone as it had been proved in the past.

He said that the new administration of Afghanistan was ready to address all the concerns of the international community with transparency and openness.

The people of Afghanistan have no intention of harming any country or nation in the world, and Afghans, as a civilized nation and human values, want to live in a peaceful environment, he said.

Hanafi said that Afghans wanted good relations with their neighboring countries, the region and the world based on mutual respect and sovereignty.

“Using this platform, we once again call on the United States to unfreeze the assets of the Central Bank of Afghanistan,” he added.

He said that the money of Afghanistan in US accounts belonged to the Afghan people who he added suffered for decades. “Our people should not pay the price for political differences; I want to make it clear that Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan would not give up to any pressure to compromise on sovereignty, national interests and religious values. It would not be acceptable to people. The option of pressure has proven in the past to be futile,” he said.

“It will be better if we choose the path of interaction and understanding, Islamic Emirate as a legitimate government is responsible and ready for any civilized interaction with the rest of the world,” Hanafi concluded.
