KABUL (Pajhwok): Facebook has shut accounts of a number of government ministries and departments since yesterday, officials said on Sunday.
After Kabul fell into the hands of Taliban on August 15, government ministries and departments stopped posting on their Facebook pages, but later they started making posts on their accounts.
But now Pajhwok Afghan News findings show the Facebook accounts of the water and energy, interior, finance, education, defense, public welfare ministries nd the government media centers have been shut by Facebook.
Head of government media center Qari Yousaf Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News that Facebook had shut down accounts of a number of government ministries and departments.
He said he had no exact information about how many accounts had been shut and why.
Interior Ministry spokesman Qari Saeed Khosti confirmed the ministry’s facebook account had been closed. Without giving details, he said the facebook accounts of several other ministries had also been shut down.
